Gulf Giants Team Camp Set Up for Players To Express Themselves: Erasmus

In the inaugural edition of the DP World ILT20, Adani Sportsline-owned Gulf Giants have impressed all. With some of the best numbers to back them up, playing for the Giants is a daunting task, and Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus has been among the stars of the campaign so far. The all-rounder, who is playing in first T20 franchise tournament, scored a crucial half-century when the Giants defeated the Dubai Capitals in the first phase of the tournament.  "It has been a brilliant period so far with Adani's Gulf Giants, who have made me feel at home since I joined the squad. The set-up all-round has been excellent and enjoyable as well. They've put in place a system where you can thrive and concentrate on producing your best cricket," Erasmus said.  At the ILT20, a standout aspect is the fact that all team XIs are required to have a couple of players, at least, from associate nations. And undoubtedly, Erasmus is quite happy about that.  "There's long been a ...

Apple Workplace Rules Violate US Labour Law, Agency Finds

Apple maintains workplace policies that unlawfully discourage employees from discussing working conditions, a US labour agency has found. The National Labor Relations Board will issue a complaint targeting the policies and claiming Apple executives made comments that stymied worker organising unless the company settles first, an agency official said on Monday in an email reviewed by Reuters. The official had sent the email to Ashley Gjovik, a former Apple senior engineering manager who filed complaints against the company in 2021. The NLRB investigates charges filed by workers and unions and decides whether to issue formal complaints against companies. The agency can seek to strike down workplace policies and require employers to notify workers of legal violations. Apple did not respond to a request for comment. The company has said it takes worker complaints seriously and thoroughly investigates them. An NLRB spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comm...

India middle-order veteran Cheteshwar Pujara has started preparations for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against Australia, which will be starting from February 9 onwards. The batter took to Twitter and shared some pictures from a practice session. "Getting ready for India vs Australia," tweeted Pujara. It will be important for Team India that this batter displays his grit, determination and steely approach to batting to the fullest against a world-class Australian bowling attack. He was in fine form last year. In five Tests and 10 innings in 2022, Pujara scored 409 runs at an average of 45.44. He scored one century and three half-centuries last year. It’s OK to Give Up On Things

On Shubman Gill's Poor T20I Form, Gambhir's Huge Prithvi Shaw Statement

Labelled by many as the ‘future of Indian batting', Shubman Gill hasn't been able to create the same impact in T20 cricket for India as he has been in ODI cricket. After yet another poor show at the top for the national team, Gill has been given a subtle warning by former India opener Gautam Gambhir who feels the player still ‘hasn't found his feet in T20 format'. Gill was dismissed for just 11 runs off 9 balls, squandering another opportunity to become an important member of the Indian team.  After the conclusion of the 2nd T20I against New Zealand, Gambhir highlighted how Shubman has struggled against spin bowling. He urged the right-handed batter to improve the skill of handling spinners, especially on turning wickets. “I feel Shubman Gill has to get better against spin, on a spinning wicket. He had his struggles against Bangladesh as well. Yes, he has been fabulous in the 50-over format, got good wickets to bat on, with 5 fielders inside, But then, you've got ...

Chinese Internet Giant Baidu Planning to Launch AI Chatbot Similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT in March

Chinese Internet giant Baidu is planning to launch an artificial intelligence chatbot tool similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT in March, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters. Baidu plans to debut the application by initially embedding it into its main search services, Bloomberg News reported earlier. ChatGPT's tech works by learning from vast amounts of data how to answer any prompt by a user in a human-like way, offering the information like a search engine would or prose like an aspiring novelist. Microsoft  has a $1 billion investment in San Francisco-based OpenAI that it has looked at increasing, Reuters has reported. The company has also worked to add OpenAI's image-generation software to its Bing search engine in a new challenge to Alphabet Inc's Google. Last week, the company announced a further multibillion dollar investment in OpenAI, deepening ties with the startup behind the chatbot sensation ChatGPT and setting the stage for more competition with r...

Watch: Rahul Dravid's 'Special Message' For Women's T20 U19 WC Winners

Following India's triumph in the ICC Women U19 T20 World Cup, the national men's team congratulated them on their historic title win. Indian bowlers' tremendous bowling performance followed by Gongadi Trisha and Soumya Tiwari's knocks helped India lift the inaugural U19 Women's T20 World Cup title defeating England by seven wickets in the summit clash at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on Sunday. Indian head coach Rahul Dravid, previously the head coach of the men's under-19 team, under whose guidance Men in Blue won the 2018 U19 World Cup, noted that the win was a landmark moment for women's cricket. "Today was a landmark day for the Indian women's U19 team. I would like to pass it on to U19 Men's captain to deliver a message for the girl," said Dravid in a video posted by BCCI. Following this, he passed on the mic to the 2018 U19 World Cup winning skipper Prithvi Shaw. "I think it is a great achievement. Congratulations, well done,...

"Shocker Of A Wicket": Hardik Lambasts Pitches Used In New Zealand T20Is

India skipper Hardik Pandya on Sunday slammed the standard of pitches used in the ongoing series against New Zealand and called the track prepared for the second T20I a "shocker". The ball turned in the first T20I in Ranchi and it was no different on Sunday when New Zealand were restricted to 99 for eight. India chased down the target with only one ball to spare. "To be honest, it was a shocker of a wicket. Both the games we have played on so far. I don't mind difficult wickets," said Hardik after the series-leveling win over New Zealand. "I am all up for that, but these two wickets were not made for T20. Somewhere down the line the curators or the grounds that we are going to play in should make sure they prepare the pitches earlier. Other than that, happy. Even 120 would have been a winning total," he said. The series decider will be played in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. "I always believed that we'll be able to finish the game, but it went qu...

2nd T20I: India Defeat New Zealand In Low-Scoring Thriller, Level Series

Indian spinners revelled on a turning track before the batters made heavy weather of a small target to register a scrappy series levelling win over New Zealand in the second T20 International in Lucknow on Sunday. The trio of Yuzvendra Chahal , Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav impressed on a helping surface to limit a self-destructing New Zealand to 99 for eight, their lowest total against India in the shortest format. It should have been a straight-forward run chase but the top-order comprising Ishan Kishan (19 off 32), Shubman Gill (11 off 9) and Rahul Tripathi (13 off 18) had a tough time again in spin-friendly conditions. In the end, Hardik Pandya (15 not out off 20) and Suryakumar Yadav (26 not out off 31) took the team over the line with a ball to spare and six wickets in hand. The series decider will be played in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. With the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli not playing T20s since the World Cup last year, opportunities have been presented ...

Inspired By England, Australia's Travis Head Aims To Attack India

Inspired by England's daredevilry in Pakistan, Australian batter Travis Head will shun his conservative approach on spinning pitches and enter the Test series against India with an aim to dominate the opposition bowling attack. India and Australia will face off in the upcoming four-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting with the opener on February 9. "Watching the way England played in Pakistan, I've probably looked back and wasn't as positive as I'd like to be against spin in those series," Head was quoted as saying by Sydney Morning Herald ahead of the team's departure for India. "I feel like the way I played throughout this series against spin - I know it's completely different being in Australia - but the more positive I am, the better I am with my feet and the better I am in defence. "We've seen that with fast bowling this summer. When I hunt the ball, my front foot defence is probably the best it's been and I think I've go...

Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Australia Sweat Over Fitness Of Green, Starc Ahead

Australia all-rounder Cameron Green might come up short on his bowling fitness as he eyes to be match-ready for the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy against hosts India. Green has been training with the team in Sydney ahead of the Test match in Nagpur to regain match fitness to force his way into the playing eleven for the first Test and will be hoping to hear good news from the surgeon for his broken finger which he sustained against South Africa during the Melbourne Test last month. Early in his professional career, Green has shown himself to be a cricketer who relishes the tempo of consistently playing long-form. He has improved over the course of the summer in both the Test matches this season and the Ashes from a year ago. In Melbourne, he took five wickets against South Africa before fracturing his finger. The all-rounder came in to bat and managed to make a crucial unbeaten fifty, playing with the injured finger. "Where he's positioned at the moment, his bigg...

Not Hardik! Ex India Opener Names His Pick For Team's Future ODI Skipper

Former Indian cricket team opener Aakash Chopra said on Friday that Rohit Sharma is expected to captain the side till the World Test Championship in 2023 but added that a change in the ODI captaincy can be expected after this year's World Cup. In a recent interaction, Chopra added that while Hardik Pandya will most likely lead India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, it is unlikely that he will be given the ODI captaincy. When asked about his picks for India's future ODI captain, Chopra said that Shubman Gill or Rishabh Pant can be solid candidates to replace Rohit as skipper. “I don't think we will see a single captain for all formats just yet, I think those days are over. Rohit Sharma will be the Test team's captain till the WTC, that's not going to change - it is going to stay like that," Chopra said on Jio Cinema. "Didn't Seem To Have Any Plans": Ex-Pak Star Critical Of Hardik Pandya

Team India lost the first T20I of the three-match series against New Zealand in Ranchi on Friday. After sweeping the ODIs 3-0, India failed to carry the momentum forward as the Kiwis won the match by 21 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series. After India's defeat, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria criticised captain Hardik Pandya , saying that the star all-rounder struggled tactically. Kaneria said that Hardik failed to rotate his bowlers smartly, adding that the latter didn't have any plans. "Hardik Pandya was not smart with his rotation of bowlers. He brought Shivam Mavi into the attack very late. He should have been brought in early. He could have also used Deepak Hooda a bit more, given the amount of turn that was on offer. This is where Hardik missed a trick or two, tactically. He didn't seem to have any plans," Kaneria said on his YouTube channel. Kaneria also questioned Hardik's role as a bowler, saying that he didn't bowl well with the ne...

Conway, Mitchell And Spinners Shine As New Zealand Beat India In 1st T20I

Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell conjured up fluent and fiery half-centuries before the spinners choked the hosts as New Zealand outplayed India by 21 runs in the opening T20I to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series on Friday. Asked to take first strike, opener Conway continued his purple patch with a 35-ball 52, while Mitchell smashed a 30-ball unbeaten 59, which included a last-over thrashing of Arshdeep Singh for 27 runs, to power the Black Caps to a challenging 176 for six. The Kiwi bowlers, led by Mitchell Santner (2/11) and Michael Bracewell (2/31), then spun a web around the home batters, restrict India to 155 for 9 in 20 overs. India had a disastrous start to their chase with both Ishan Kishan (4) and Rahul Tripathi (0) sent back to the pavillion by the third over. While Ishan was bamboozled by Bracewell, pacer Jacob Duffy (1/27) induced a fine edge off Rahul's blade. Shubman Gill (7) too perished soon after being deceived by Santner as India slumped to 15 for three. ...

"Look At The Way Rohit Sharma Plays": Ex-NZ Opener On Allen's Struggles

Former New Zealand cricketer Craig Cumming is unhappy with head coach Gary Stead's persistence with opener Finn Allen , who failed with the bat in the recently-concluded three-match ODI series against India. The hosts whitewashed the Kiwis 3-0 with Allen, 23, scoring two consecutive ducks and a 40, raising doubts about his selection in the New Zealand side with the ODI World Cup in India less than nine months away. The cricketer had made his 50-over debut last year with a few impressive scores against Ireland and the West Indies but has quickly gone into a downward spiral. "I'm concerned around the style of cricketers we're trying to produce. Jadeja Returns To Competitive Cricket; Bowls 17 Overs In Ranji Trophy Game

Returning to competitive cricket after close to six months, India's premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja went wicket-less in his 17 overs on a slow Chepauk pitch, as Tamil Nadu made 183/4 against Saurashtra in their Ranji Trophy match in Chennai on Tuesday. T20 Break For Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma, Says India Coach Rahul Dravid

India's omission of star Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma from an upcoming Twenty20 series against New Zealand is only intended to give them a rest, coach Rahul Dravid said Monday. The duo's absence from two successive series had stoked rumours that Hardik Pandya would take over as regular T20 captain Pandya led the team to a 2-1 T20 series win over Sri Lanka earlier this month and has been named captain for the New Zealand matches, starting with Friday's opener. Speaking ahead of the final one-day international against New Zealand on Tuesday, Dravid said India would prioritise the 50-over format going into this year's Cricket World Cup. "There are certain priorities we need to give to certain white-ball tournaments," said Dravid, whose team already have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ODI series, told reporters in Indore. India host Australia for four Tests starting February 9, followed by three ODI matches. "So the priority after last year...

The music streaming giant has about 9,800 employees, according to its third-quarter earnings report. Tech companies added to their headcounts during the pandemic but were forced to make reductions in response to reduced advertising revenue and a shaky economic outlook. Amazon.com , Meta and Microsoft Corp. were among the biggest companies to announce staff reductions recently, while Google parent Alphabet Inc. said Friday it will cut about 12,000 jobs, more than 6 percent of its global workforce. A Spotify spokesperson declined to comment on the upcoming cuts. The company made a massive co...

Elon Musk Says Higher Priced Twitter Subscription Will Not Carry Advertisements

Twitter owner Elon Musk tweeted on Saturday that a higher priced subscription of the social media platform will not carry advertisements. The billionaire also said that ads are "too frequent on Twitter and too big," and that steps will be taken to address those issues in coming weeks. Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Twitter earns nearly 90 percent of its revenue from selling digital ads and Musk recently attributed a "massive drop in revenue" to rights organizations that have pressured brands to pause their Twitter ads. Earlier in December, Musk announced that Twitter's Basic blue tick will have half the number of advertisements and that it will offer a higher tier with no advertisements by 2023. Last week, Twitter said it would price Twitter Blue subscription for Android at $11 (roughly Rs. 900) per month - the same as for iOS subscribers - while offering a cheaper annual plan for web users when compared to monthly charges....

"Made Only One Mistake...": Ex-India Star's Huge Remark On Rohit Sharma

India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series after beating New Zealand by eight wickets in Raipur on Sunday. After being put in to bat, the Kiwis were bowled out for a paltry total of 108. In reply, captain Rohit Sharma made light work of the modest target, hitting a composed half-century, while Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 40 to take India across the finishing line. After the conclusion of the match, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan hailed Rohit, saying that the modest total allowed him to play freely. Irfan suggested that Rohit did well to bat on track which could've been tricky while chasing under the lights, and also pointed out the only mistake made by the 35-year-old. "He made only one mistake when the ball hit his pads, there was an lbw appeal, they wanted to take the DRS but didn't take it. But other than that, he looked in complete control, we saw amazing shots, on the up on the offside and the leg side. I am repeatedly saying that you shouldn...

On Virat Kohli vs Sachin Tendulkar Debate, Kapil Dev's No-Nonsense Reply

Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are arguably the two best batters of their respective eras. Tendulkar, who made his international debut in 1989, scored 100 centuries (51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs) before hanging his boots in 2013. Kohli, on the other hand, has been ruling the roost for more than a decade now. So far, Kohli has scored 74 international tons (27 in Tests, 46 in ODIs and one in T20Is), the most by any active players. The 34-year-old is just three ODI tons from equalling Tendulkar's all-time record of 49 hundreds. While Kohli has often been compared to Tendulkar, opinions have been divided as to who is the greatest batter of all time. During a recent interaction, India's 1983 World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev , was asked to pick between the long-standing debate of who's the better batter between Sachin and Kohli. However, Dev gave a perfect reply, saying that while anyone can have their picks, the new era will have better players, as compared to the previ...
